Transport Information Errors by LOCOG, TfL, SETrains

There has been universal and well deserved praise for LOCOG’s organisation of LONDON 2012 and the Paralympics. 

Unfortunately, as with the Test event in 2011 and London 2012, the provision of information about transport has been less successful, including for the disabled and residents of Westcombe Park.  The promised disabled access at Maze Hill station never materialised.   As examples of such errors, residents of Westcombe Park may wish to be aware that

Trains

·      Contrary to what some travellers to the Westcombe Park Area have been told at London Bridge Station, services to Maze Hill and Westcombe Park stations are operating as normal (with a few extra late night services)

Pedestrians and cyclists

• Contrary to what is suggested on the Journey Planner, there is no access for wheelchair users (or, indeed, anyone else) along Charlton Way  from the Gibb Memorial to the Blackheath Gate
• Contrary to what is suggested on the Journey Planner, there is no access for wheelchair users (or, indeed, anyone else) from the Vanbrugh Park Gate to the Blackheath Gate
• Contrary to what is suggested on the Journey Planner, there is no access for pedestrians  from Blackheath to the Greenwich Foot Tunnel through Greenwich Park
• Contrary to what is suggested on the Journey Planner, there is no access for wheelchair users or pedestrians down One Tree Hill to the Spectator Entrance for the Equestrian events from the Maze Hill Gate 
• Contrary to what is suggested on the Journey Planner, there is no access for wheelchair users or pedestrians from Vanbrugh Park to King William Walk through Greenwich Park.
• Contrary to what is suggested on the Journey Planner  there is no access for wheelchair users or pedestrians from Westcombe Park Road to Park Row through Greenwich Park

Buses

• Contrary to what is suggested on TfL’s daily traffic alert, The 53 Bus stops at Bus Stop ‘S’ (on the A2 by Blackheath Gate) and it is understood it will continue to do so until 14 September (when Charlton Way is scheduled to reopen).  As the pavement in Prince Charles Road has been made unsafe for wheelchair users by a temporary LOCOG crossover, and the pavement along the A2 has been obstructed for wheelchair users by barriers installed by LOCOG, the bus service from stop 'S' may, for disabled users,  be the only practicable means of travelling between the Blackheath Gate and Westcombe Park.

As with the Test Event in 2011 and LONDON 2012, information within the Park about routes across the park has also been inaccurate, misleading or uninformative.
