Run-to-the-Beat 2012

This Charity event takes place on October 28th. There will be no Run-to-the-Beat sound stage at the Gibb Memorial this year, though music from the Gibb Memorial has not caused problems to local residents in previous years.
However, this year there will be a sound stage at the A102(M) / Woolwich Road roundabout, and this might affect some residents of Westcombe Park.  Perhaps more importantly, there will be two sound stages in Greenwich Park.  The proposals appear to breach the Royal Parks licensing arrangements. Greenwich Council's requirements for site notices have also been breached,  thus reinforcing the need for a review meeting about the Royal Park Licence, now that the Olympics are over.
Details of how to access Westcombe Park on the day are not yet available.  Watch this space!

FOYLE ROAD GARAGES APPEAL GOES TO PUBLIC HEARING

The developer's appeal against Greenwich Planning Board's refusal of planning permission to demolish the  garages behind 34, Foyle Road and build three two-storey houses on the land will be heard by the Planning Inspector in the Council Chambers at Wellington Street, Woolwich on Tuesday 20 November at 10 a.m. Members of the public may attend. Both the Planning Board's refusal and the withdrawal of the earlier planning application followed numerous objections from local residents. Objections to the appeal should be sent to Catherine Evans of the Planning Inspectorate at Temple Quay House, 2, The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6PN, quoting reference APP/E 5330/A/12/2178626-2180345, by 4 October.

Jubilee Line Closed This Weekend

TfL have announced that there will be one planned closure for routine maintenance affecting Greenwich during the next six months. Unfortunately it’s this coming weekend (15/16 September).  TfL have apologised for the short notice, about which Greenwich Council have complained.  However, TfL confirm that there are no home matches at West Ham or Charlton this weekend and the O2 are aware of this closure; TfL worked with them in planning it.

The Jubilee line will be closed:

·         Between Green Park and Stratford on Saturday (15 September) and;
·         Between Finchley Road and Stratford on Sunday (16 September).

TfL state that the work taking place this weekend is routine maintenance (replacing track points) which will still need to take place from time to time along the line as old assets like track need replacing.
