I object strongly to planning request 12/1676 at 12 Charlton Road. This property was recently given permission to retain the tarmac surface installed infront of the building and the owner is now applying to cover the remaining area adjacent to that with tarmac. I have lived at No 10 for nearly 20 years and the area has always been an uncultivated green area which has supported a variety of wildlife. There have been many species of wild flowers, insects even the occasional stag beetle, lots of birds including visiting greenwoodpeckers, whitethroats and a variety of other songbirds. We need green areas, not more parking spaces, especially when the Council is pledged to encourage public transport. That area was an amenity for us all and we are in danger of losing it in a residential area which is a Conservation Area. I urge the Council not to allow further loss of green areas around the Standard.
I very much object to the application 12/1676 to tarmac the area adjacent to the already tarmacked area infront of No. 12 Charlton Road. I have lived at No.12 for nearly 20 years and this area has always been an uncultivated green area which has supported a wide variety of wildlife. There have been many species of wildflowers, butterflies and other insects including the occasional stag beetle, a wide variety of song birds including whitethroats and sometimes even a green woodpecker looking for worms. All this is lost if the area is covered in tarmac. The current car park is rarely full and the Council is pledged to encourage use of public transport. This is a Conservation Area and we need more green areas not fewer.
I strongly object to this application to extend the car park over the whole area adjacent to the one already covered in tarmac by the owner of 12 Charlton Road. For the last nearly 20 years that I have lived at No. 10 the area in question has been an uncultivated wild green area. It has hosted a wealth of wild flowers, insects (even the occasional stag beetle), song birds and sometimes even a green woodpecker and has provided a little green 'lung' close to the Standard. there is already a large tarmacked area infront of No 1 which is rarely, if ever full. To provide more car parking spaces surely goes against the Council's policy of encouraging use of pubic transport. This is a conservation area and I urge the Council not to allow this green area to be lost.
