Re:Planning Application for 2 Stratheden Parade (ex-Threshers Wine Store), to change of use from A1 to A5 (take-away).
Objections to be received by 24 February 2010.

The council's planning dept. tell me that they do not have knowledge of what type of take-away this will be, indeed that it is of no importance in their decision-making. I find this particularly unhelpful. The Applicant's name is: Mr Victor Pankhania, although this should not indicate the nature of the application.

BELOW, I WILL OUTLINE MY OBJECTIONS TO THIS APPLICATION. PLEASE CAN YOU ADVISE ME/ COMMENT IN ANY WAY IN WHICH MAY BE OF HELP?
ALSO, IS IT AT ALL POSSIBLE FOR ANYONE TO SUPPORT MY OPPOSITION
SINCE I FEEL YET ANOTHER /FAST-FOOD EATERY/TAKE-AWAY WILL BE MOST DETRIMENTAL TO THIS COMMUNITY SHOPPING AREA.

I live at 1A Stratheden Parade (next door, on 1st floor), and am an owner-occupier.
I oppose this application on the grounds of:
- noise: the premises is alongside a bus-stop (for buses 108 & 286), and across from the Royal Standard pub (smokers gather outside regularly, particularly at nightime, and at closing-time there is generally heightened noise). My bedroom windows are above the bus-stop/ opposite the pub, and the noise already is disturbing enough.

- smell (despite planned extract system & duct, I do get 'fatty-smells' already since there is already the Chinese Restaurant &take-away on the parade, as well as the kitchens from the Royal Standard pub opposite.

- other eateries/commercial food-outlets within 100yd-radius:
1.Sun-Ya Chinese take-away & restaurant
2.Royal Standard Pub
3.H Hirst &Son Bakery (No.12)
4.Gambadella cafe (Vanbrugh Park)
5.Royal Cafe (Old Dover Rd.)
6.Fosters Cafe (Old Dover Rd.)
7.Fish &Chip Fish Bar (Old Dover Rd)
8.Mr Kebabbies (Westcombe Hill)

- litter (it's usual here for non-residents to often hang-around in the access rd. alongside 1 Stratheden Parade, to take drugs, eat fast-food, have sex, urinate etc (loiter?), since it is poorly-lit. It is an 'unadopted road' and as such does not have the benefit of being swept by the council. I regulary have to sweep the access road clear of rubbish.

- I consider fast-food take-away not be in the interest of the publics' good-health, or to be in-line with government initiatives on 'healthy-eating'.

- noise. It is already a very noisy 'corner' here: loitering outside the pub opposite from 'smokers'; those hanging around the bus stop late at night, particularly after the pub closes.NB the 108 bus runs all night.

- Causing hazard. Recently, the access road (alongside No.1 Stratheden Parade)has become a wheel-clamping zone, due to the constant casual parking-up to gain access to the shops on the parade. However, this does not totally deter casual parking-up, but now motorists park on the pedestrian path alongside the wall of No.1 Stratheden Parade. This is a nuicance and also a hazard for pedestrians crossing.

I would be most appreciative of any comments and/or support in this matter.
Yours
