Olympic Test Event: Park Reopening Delays
More than a week after the end of the Olympic Test event, parts of Greenwich Park scheduled to reopen on 11th July remained closed. The delayed reopening affected, in particular, key paths on the eastern side of The Avenue, including the path below the Wolfe Statue linking Westcombe Park to St Mary’s Gate, and the path taking visitors from the Old Royal Naval College, the Thames Path and Maze Hill Station to the Observatory. The notices on the adjoining fencing setting out the timetable for reopening approved by the Local Planning Authority and the four statutory consultees confirms that they should have opened on 11th July.
Following representations by the Westcombe Society and other local amenity groups, it is expected that these paths will belatedly reopen on 16th July.
